"Nice campus overall, with a few small drawbacks"
Overall, I’ve had a good experience on campus. The libraries and study spots are clean and easy to settle into, and the gyms are better than I expected. My brother visited once and even mentioned how nice the campus looked. A few of the buildings do feel a bit dated, and parking can definitely be frustrating at times, but most of the facilities are convenient and easy to use
"Admin stuff was surprisingly manageable"
I expected UCSD’s admin process to be a pain, and there were a lot of forms to deal with. But they were easy to find, so it didn’t feel too frustrating. Things moved a bit slowly, which was mildly annoying, but overall it worked out fine.
"Solid campus life with a beach bonus"
Well... ucsd campus life was good overall. There was usually some club event, food thing, or just people hanging out around Price Center, so it never felt totally dead. Being close to the beach was a huge plus too, especially on weekends when you just needed a break. The main downside is that the campus is really spread out, so walking everywhere can get tiring fast. The social scene is definitely there, but you do have to put in some effort to find your people. Overall though, I had a good experience and met some really cool people.

"Overall, living in UC San Diego student housing..."
Overall, living in UC San Diego student housing made my first year a lot easier than it would’ve been otherwise. I liked being close to my classes and the dining halls, and it was just convenient not having to think too much about commuting or getting around campus.
When I first moved in, the room was actually cleaner than I expected, which was a nice surprise. We only had one issue with the sink, and maintenance showed up quickly to fix it. It did get noisy sometimes, and laundry was definitely a hassle on weekends, but that felt like normal campus living stuff. Solid experience overall.
"Some good profs, but hit or miss"
There were definitely a few professors who really seemed to care and put in the effort, which I appreciated. But overall, a lot of the classes felt kind of rushed, and the experience really depended on who you ended up with. Sometimes it was hard to get clear help when you needed it, so it just felt...
"Decent diversity, but I often felt left in the dark"
You can definitely see some diversity here, which is a good thing, but the inclusion side didn’t always feel as strong. There were times when decisions or conversations seemed to happen without much context, and I’d end up feeling a bit left in the dark. It wasn’t terrible, but it did make it harder to feel fully included sometimes.

"UCSD Worked Out Well for My Career"
Overall, I had a good experience at UC San Diego. I was just hoping the degree would help me get my foot in the door somewhere, especially since I was already stressing about jobs during my last year and drinking way too much campus coffee. The career center ended up being more useful than I expected, and the alumni connections actually helped me land a few interviews. Employers also seemed to take the UC San Diego name seriously, which was a relief. Not everything was perfect, of course, but when it comes to career results, I’m happy with how it turned out.

"The dining halls are solid most of the..."
The dining halls are solid most of the time, and I’ve definitely been saved by the late-night snack options more than once. That said, it can get a little repetitive after a while, so I have mixed feelings overall. Still, it’s convenient and usually does the job.

"Updates could be a lot clearer"
I use UC San Diego regularly, the communication can be kind of confusing. Sometimes important info feels buried across different pages, and when something gets updated, it’s not always clear what actually changed or when it changed. Like, come on now, I shouldn’t have to ask around just to figure out basic details. It’s not the worst, but I do wish they made updates more upfront and easier to follow.

"Admissions was way easier than I had pictured"
I kind of had it in my head that admissions would be a whole paperwork maze, so I was bracing for the usual back-and-forth. But I applied online, got updates quickly, and didn’t really have to stop and figure out what was going on. my shortcut now is: if they communicate this clearly from the start, the rest probably won’t be too bad either.

"Financial aid replies were a little slow"
The UC San Diego financial aid office did help me out in the end, so I’m grateful for that, but the replies definitely took longer than I was hoping. I had to follow up twice, which made the whole thing feel a bit more stressful than it needed to be. Not the worst experience, just kind of frustrating when you’re already anxious about money stuff.

"Good school, but it can get intense"
UC San Diego has been a good experience overall, but yeah, the workload can hit you really fast, especially if you’re in STEM. Some weeks it’s like labs, quizzes, projects, and then somehow another assignment shows up before you’re even done with the first thing. Most of my professors have been fair, though, and there are resources if you actually take the time to find them. It’s definitely not an easy school, but I did learn a lot, so I guess...

"Parking and commute info has been smooth for me"
I’ve had a good experience using the UC San Diego parking info on the website. I can usually find what I need, like permit details, lot locations, and daily parking options, without clicking around forever. Even little things like checking which lot makes sense before I leave have been helpful.
The commuting section has been useful too, especially for shuttle times and transit options. I’ll usually glance at it before heading in, sometimes while I’m finishing my coffee, and it helps me avoid that last-minute guessing game.
Parking on campus can definitely still get busy, so it’s not like the site magically fixes that. But it does make the whole process feel a lot less confusing and more manageable. Overall, I’d give it 5 stars

"I came to UCSD knowing it…"
I came to ucsd knowing it was a big research school, and that was one of the things I was excited about, even though I also picked it partly because I like being near the ocean. There are definitely tons of labs and research opportunities on paper, but getting into one was way harder than I expected. I sent out a bunch of emails and a lot of them just never got replies, which got discouraging after a while. It kind of felt like you needed to already know someone or have an inside connection to get your foot in the door. Some advisors were genuinely helpful and pointed me in the right direction, so it wasn’t all bad, but overall the process was more frustrating than I thought it would be for a school that’s so known for research.

"Fast quarters, but honestly worth it :)"
UC San Diego’s quarter system definitely moves fast!! It can feel intense at times, but I actually liked staying busy and feeling like things were always moving. I learned a lot, and the campus resources/tools helped make it feel more manageable :)

The academics here are great. I learned a lot, and it definitely helped me get more confident with the material.
"UCSD definitely has strong classes and some…"
ucsd definitely has strong classes and some really great professors, so I do feel like I’m getting a solid education. But the tuition and all the extra costs add up really fast, especially if you’re not getting much financial aid. They kind of sell you on all these vague promises about opportunities, support, and the value of the ucsd name, but once you’re here, it doesn’t always feel as clear or guaranteed as they make it sound. Housing is expensive, fees keep piling on, and some classes are so crowded that it can be frustrating. Overall, it’s not a bad school at all, but for the price, I wouldn’t say it’s amazing either.

"Found What I Needed"
I was able to find what I needed without too much trouble, so that part was good. As I was browsing around, though, the menus felt a little crowded to me, and I had to slow down a bit to figure out where everything was. Overall, it worked fine, but the layout could be a little cleaner

"Felt safe getting around campus"
I felt safe walking around campus, and I think other students and visitors would feel the same. There was security around, which made the whole place feel more comfortable and reassuring.

"Good school, but takes some digging"
UC San Diego definitely has a strong reputation, especially when it comes to science and tech. I do feel like the website can be a bit cluttered, and it took more effort than I wanted to find what I was looking for. Still, overall it comes across as trustworthy and like a solid school with a good name.
